Roseville Health & Wellness Center now offers a Functional Movement Screen (FMS) to assess and evaluate clients for mobility, motor control and/or stability issues. This evidence-based assessment tool will identify dysfunctional movement patterns that are either contributing to chronic injuries, or that are limiting your fitness potential. FMS helps identify muscle asymmetries, tightness, weakness and other risk factors for injury by examining the mobility and stability of the hips, core, shoulders, knees, spine and ankles.
The goal of the screen is to reduce compensation and decrease injury risk by targeting a client’s faulty movement patterns and reducing compensations that have been created through dysfunctional training. The screen is made up of 10 tests, evaluating at how your body moves as a whole. The results of the test will then help develop an individualized program for you to help you work on any weaknesses or imbalances. If you continue to train with dysfunctional movement patterns (i.e. weakness, imbalances, mobility issues, etc.), you will be training in a dysfunctional manner that will put you at risk for injury and decrease your ability to exercise to your highest potential.
You may be thinking that you don’t need to be screened because you don’t have any injuries, but it’s meant to reduce your risk for injury, not to help treat injuries after they occur. This allows you to focus your energy and time on improving upon your functionality and life rather than focusing on nursing an injury for weeks/months. The FMS was created to help clients of all ages and fitness levels improve upon their fitness goals. The screen also helps to make sure that you are more efficient with your training programs. For example, if you move with poor form because of tight muscles and joints, you have a higher probability of dysfunctions in other joints and surrounding musculature structures, and on top of that, putting your back, knees and ankles at risk for injury.
You will not be low crawling in the mud but you will feel like you've joined the Marines with this intense one hour workout that promises to challenge your strength and endurance. Depending on the weather, program may include both indoor and outdoor activities. Intermediate to Advanced program
